Ritratto n° zero
1998 – Specchio, legno, forbice.
Dimensioni:  cm.145x59x8

Portrait n° zero
1998 – Mirror, wood, scissors
Dimensions: cm 145x59x8

It is my “fathers” cross, my private male burial ground.
My father, who was a tailor, is embodied in his by now rusted scissors and in the last needle of his sawing machine, dropped there when, struck by ictus, he was deprived by speech along with all the words we never exchanged that I would have liked to have the strength to utter.
For what concerns the mirror, it belonged to my second father, a sort of spiritual father who always tried to teach me how to look into myself, to meditate on what was my real self and by doing so causing clashes with my biological father.
The function of the rack was to support his tools: he was a sculptor and restorer, working on wood. It was on the rack that I nailed up my father’s last needle. It was a very painful gesture.
